Inspired by my friend Katherine who donned a 1950's one-piece this summer, I wanted something classic and different from other barely-there-hanging-on-by-a-thread bikini's that I usually wear and here is the result: Norma Kamali's Bill bikini bottom and top.
I know the price is rather frightening but if you're like me and buy a bathing suit once in a blue moon, you'll thank yourself in 5 years when you can A. still fit in this bathing suit, and B. it will still be in style. The timeless high waisted bikini bottom is flattering on anyone, and covers up all the Christmas dinner stored in your gut. The skirt-like effect is also flattering on your butt without making you look like your 45 and trying to cover something. (FYI: The top was rather large; I ordered a small and it fits, but it could be a little more snug) And the material is like butter and feels amazing on.
And if you're skeptical about spending $300+ on a bathing suit, or about shopping online (will it fit, will I like the material, etc) then you're in luck because Norma Kamali has this excellent program called "Try before you buy" where you order the suit, it comes the next day, or in a day or so depending on when its ordered, and it is delivered by Fed-ex without your card being charged. You have 48 to try it on and decide if you want to purchase it. If you don't like it, then you simply call fed-ex and schedule a pick up, and send it back to NK and they only charge you for the shipping.
Naturally, I bought it in black, but check out the Mesh one as well.
